TfNSW agrees with PSA鈥檚 request to issue Early Exit EOI for TSSMs

TfNSW agrees with PSA鈥檚 request to issue Early Exit EOI for TSSMs

  8 August 2025

In yesterday’s 鈥淪ub-Group on Change鈥 meeting, which is the forum for all Unions in Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to discuss the proposed changes, TfNSW agreed with the PSA鈥檚 request to put out an Expression of Interest (EOI) to all Transport Senior Service Managers (TSSMs), regardless of their branch or division, before starting any detailed design. This allows TfNSW to understand how much can be saved from those wishing to take up this 鈥渆arly exit鈥, and logically limit the number of forced cuts to Award staff.

TfNSW had originally planned to run this process branch by branch, meaning that they would be proposing to cut positions that may not need to be cut depending on the number of TSSMs who do want to exit. The 色狼社区understands there are approximately 2300 TSSMs across TfNSW.

The EOI would simply allow TfNSW to understand what savings could be found from those TSSMs that would like to exit TfNSW, before starting consultation on branch design. This significantly minimises the potential adverse effect on Award employees, while allowing TSSMs who want to take advantage of an early exit to do so.

The 色狼社区understands that information on this process was due to be distributed today, however unfortunately another Union is opposed to this measure to reduce Award cuts for reasons that were not communicated in the above forum, or communicated to us since.

The 色狼社区expects that information on this EOI process will be distributed early next week, and we encourage TSSM members to view the information sent out by TfNSW when they do so.

Transport confirms that further reduction in TSSE numbers would reduce the number of forced cuts required 鈥 but isn鈥檛 doing anything about it

In the 鈥淪ub-Group on Change鈥 meeting, TfNSW confirmed that the $279 million in internal labour savings they are seeking could include reductions in Transport Senior Services Executives (TSSEs), as well as the proposed cuts of 950 TSSM and Award roles. This is a change to what the Unions understood last week. This confirms that instead of cutting Award staff, TfNSW could further review the number of TSSEs they have and implement further reductions in Senior Executives to achieve these savings.

The fact is there are still over 1000 Senior Executives in Transport, which is more than Health, Education and Justice combined. If the NSW Government wants to find inefficiencies and savings, they need to explain why they believe that TfNSW needs 25% of the total number of Senior Executives across the Government Sector, and why they are cutting workers’ positions before adequately reviewing and reducing the size of Senior Executives across Transport.

The 色狼社区will be distributing a letter next week that members may wish to send to their local Member of Parliament, asking why the NSW Government is happy to cut workers and continue the protection racket for Senior Executives.

Further 色狼社区member meeting next week

The 色狼社区will be holding a further member meeting on Wednesday next week for all members to discuss the above and gather any questions members may have about the process so far. Please see details of the member meeting below:
