Induction visit
On 7 April, our new seconded Organiser, Michael Petersen, was invited to meet with the latest graduating class of Sheriff’s Officers about the benefits and protections that come with union membership. Highlighting the strength that comes from standing together, the session resulted in 22 new members joining. Congratulations to all involved!
This growth strengthens our ability to continue advocating for a stronger, safer, and better workplace for everyone.
Secondment
Michael Petersen, a Delegate from Police Radio, has been seconded for the Sheriff’s Office and Police Radio.
Site visits
Marko Petrovic and Michael Petersen also took the opportunity to conduct drop-in visits at the Parramatta courthouses. These visits gave Michael a valuable first-hand look at the important work you do each day.
Forfeited flex hours dispute
At the JCC meeting on 19 March 2026, the Association made a formal specific request to the NSW Sheriff’s Office to provide the data related to forfeited flex hours and let the Minutes show that the request was declined.
In the same meeting, the Association also requested the following:
- That Sheriff’s management agree to pursue a determination covering forfeited flex and the provisions that would apply.
- That Management consider another type of industrial instrument such as an agreement or Award.
- That a working group be established to negotiate an agreed outcome.
These requests were also declined.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas written to the Sheriff’s Office formally notifying that we are in dispute regarding the failure to engage in meaningful consultation and share information around these issues.
If the dispute is unresolved the Association will seek the assistance of the Industrial Relations Commission to resolve the matter.
We will keep you updated.
