On 30 March the É«ÀÇÉçÇøand the Department met to discuss the 2023 Temporary Workforce Transition (TWT) project affecting school-based temporary staff.
The Department updated the É«ÀÇÉçÇøon the proposed implementation plan as follows:
- Due to the recent change of Government after the recent NSW State Election, the department is briefly pausing the rollout of the TWT initiative to enable a briefing to the new Minister for Education and Early Learning, The Hon. Prue Car MP, Â on this important program.
- A revised timeline will be advised to all schools as soon as possible, anticipated to be early Term 2.
- Any temporary staff member who meets the current eligibility criteria will remain eligible to be made an offer of permanent employment.

A Staff Noticeboard update will also be published this week for school staff. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøunderstands School Administrative and Support staff receive the weekly update on Wednesdays.
Please note the É«ÀÇÉçÇøis seeking a meeting with Minister Car to request a review of the current eligibility criteria. It is the PSA’s position that to be eligible for an offer of permanency then an individual staff member should only be required to have had three years continuous service with the NSW Education department up until to the end of 2022. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill update members in a future bulletin as to the outcome of your union’s request to have the eligibility criteria amended.
Once the TWT implementation process has recommenced, members should check which phase of the rollout impacts them. The updated information will identify the relevant dates for offers of permanency. If you consider you meet the eligibility criteria and have not been made an offer by the Department, please contact the É«ÀÇÉçÇøMember Support Centre on 1800 772 679 or . You will be provided the relevant information and support in relation to your circumstances. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøand the Department are currently finalising an exceptions review process for É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers.
Your union seeks to have as many temporary staff who meet the eligibility criteria made an offer of permanency. We do not want any members left behind. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøcan only assist members with a request for an exceptions review.
