Victory! At Tuesday night’s Lismore City Council meeting, council reversed its decision to get rid of our part day public holiday for 2020 and 2021.
Thank you to all the É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers and the community that got behind our local campaign to save our public holiday and sign the petition. Your voice made a difference.
Your local Regional Organiser, Asren Pugh, addressed last night’s meeting and made the case that É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers across the Lismore LGA deserve a break.
We have supported our local community over many difficult years that have included floods, droughts and fires, all while facing increased workloads and budgets slashed by the NSW Government.
While members have differing views on the Lismore Cup itself, we are united in wanting to save our public holiday which creates extra time for families and friends to get together and enjoy being part of our great community.
Congratulations to all and thank you to the councillors that made last night’s decision.
