Update on Ministerial Drivers Award
25 August 2023
On Monday, 21 August 2023, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøpublished a survey to all members which asked for membership endorsement of an amended version of the recording of hours clause in the draft Crown Employees (Ministerial Drivers) Award. The dispute between the É«ÀÇÉçÇøand the Department in respect of the recording of hours clause was the sole sticking point preventing the finalisation of the award.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis pleased to advise that members have overwhelmingly endorsed the amended clause, with approximately 86 per cent of members voting in favour.
In light of membership endorsement, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas formally agreed to the amended draft clause and, consequently, consented to the award being made. The Department has also consented to the award being made.
Today, 25 August, your legal representative attended the Industrial Relations Commission and provided the Commission with an updated version of the award which the Commission will consider over the coming days. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøanticipates that the award will made by the Commission next week.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwould like to extend a big thanks to your elected delegates, Grahame Brown, Glenn Smith and Floyd Swindley, who worked tirelessly and with dedication to finalise the award. Thanks to them, your employment conditions will be protected.
