Technical Services competency management procedure consultation

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has tabled a change which will result in Technical Services (TS) technical and engineering personnel having to undergo compulsory assessment of proficiency. It is the view of the É«ÀÇÉçÇøthat this procedure is unwieldy and contains several flaws. We have put questions to TfNSW about this procedure – you can find the Q&As HERE.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis also concerned about how consultation is handled more broadly in Transport. For example, the consultation process for this procedure contained three Q&A sessions in which members reported that questions were screened by TfNSW and not properly answered. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas raised these concerns with TfNSW and will closely monitor how consultation occurs going forward.
We remind members that TfNSW has an obligation to consult with employees in good faith – this includes making sure that workers have access to meaningful information about the nature of the proposed changes.
