TAFE update: Student Services Branch restructure
27 July 2021
The CPSU NSW is of the understanding that most, if not all, employees who are affected by the Student Services Branch (SSB) restructure will receive their final placement letters today. This means the TAFE review panel will have sat, assessed all of the request for review applications it has received, and made a final determination regarding whether employees are at Step 1, Step 2 or Step 3 of the placement process.
Eligible employees who have been matched to a position will receive information regarding the next steps, especially for those employees at Step 2 who will now go through the assessment process.
Those employees who are at Step 3 of the process now have two options. These options are:
- To participate in Step 3 of the process and compete for jobs advertised internally within TAFE
- To express an early interest in a voluntary redundancy(VR) or severance payment (if you are an eligible temporary employee) if you do not wish to participate in the Step 3 process. An eligible temporary employee is a temporary employee who has been engaged with TAFE for 12 months or more and whose position is no longer required because it has been abolished as a result of the restructure.
If you elect to participate in the Step 3 process and are unsuccessful in finding employment with TAFE NSW, then you will be considered an excess employee and can either:
- opt for a VR
- elect to go through the 12-week redeployment process (Step 4).
The CPSU NSW understands this is a stressful time for all employees affected by the restructure, and we are here for you. If you need to talk to someone at the union about your situation, please call the CPSU NSW on 1800 772 679.
