TAFE operating model phase 2 – consultation started

The CPSU NSW is seeking feedback from members in relation to the proposed Operating Model Phase 2 by TAFE NSW.

We want to hear your concerns and suggestions around the proposal and invite you to meet with us online on Monday 4 August 2025 at 12:oopm.

Union staff have been provided with the relevant documentation, including current and proposed organisational charts and information about impacted roles.

The CPSU NSW is aware that the following sections are affected:

• People Group
• Procurement
• Product and Quality
• Strategic Asset Planning
• TAFE Digital

The mapping threshold to new positions will be:

• 60 per cent for all TAFE worker positions
• 80 per cent for all TAFE manager positions.

Employees who do not map to future state positions in steps 1 and 2 will have the opportunity to apply for positions at step 3 of the placement process (at the same* and/or below grade), prior to any external advertising of positions.

Placement will begin within the approximate timeframe of September–October 2025.

Impacted employees have access to the government’s Workforce Mobility Placement PolicyÌý which can be viewd . The CPSU NSW is paying close attention to the process to ensure TAFE NSW meets its obligations in accordance with the policy, to prioritise retention, firstly at TAFE NSW and then, across the broader public sector.

Consultation with impacted employees during the placement process, should recognise individual needs and career aspirations of impacted employees.

Feedback and consultation through the CPSU NSW should be done through your local or regional delegate or at the meeting on Monday 4 August.
