TAFE member bulletin

  12 March 2018

I鈥檓 pleased to advise the CPSU NSW (PSA) has welcomed me back to undertake the TAFE campaign. Shane Jobberns is my name and I worked for TAFE NSW for about 30 years in libraries, administration and student associations. Throughout all these changes I remained a member of the 色狼社区for 33 years. During this time many changes have happened as TAFE NSW endures restructure after restructure. Yet during all the changes, dedicated members have managed to keep TAFE going.

You may remember the 2000 Olympics and the important contribution TAFE played in training all the volunteers for the best games ever. More recently TAFE ran the Barangaroo skills exchange. Programs such as these were achieved on the back of your hard work and dedication. Maintaining the future of TAFE is no different, and the CPSU NSW (PSA) will be right beside you.

The current restructure of TAFE NSW and the transition of classifications are no doubt the biggest shake-up in TAFE in recent times, if not its entire history. As your TAFE NSW PSA/CPSU organiser I will be working closely with the TAFE NSW PSA/CPSU Departmental committee (DC) and Workplace Group Committees (WPG) members to ensure the best possible outcome, it鈥檚 going to be a bumpy ride, however, standing up and fighting back by getting involved is the only way we will prevail.

As the new TAFE organiser I will be visiting workplaces on a regular basis during all times of the day and night to seek your input and support on how, as union members and staff, we can collectively move forward. Please remember a union is only as strong as it members.

I have two important tasks for members to undertake:

Firstly:

The PSA/CPSU needs you as a member to check and update your details, particularly your work location.

It is vital we have your most up-to-date details. This should not take more than a few minutes online. Thanks for assisting your delegates to work for yourself and other 色狼社区members in TAFE

Update and Connect with the PSA

If you have moved home or work location, or you have changed your contact numbers, please update your membership details .

Secondly:

Put the May Day rally on 6 May in your Diary

I would like to invite each and every one of you to the MAY DAY MARCH to be held this year on Sunday 6 May 2018 in Sydney. The theme is 鈥淐hange the Rules鈥.

We need every member to attend to show the government we are serious about STANDING UP & FIGHTING BACK. Further details will be provided in coming weeks.

In union,
Shane Jobberns
