System reform announced
23 April 2026
The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) has today announced the Child Protection and Permanency (CPP) system reform, which has been under discussion for some time. At today’s briefing, DCJ provided initial information about the intended changes.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwas briefed by DCJ at 11.00am today, 24 April, ahead of the 12.15pm Town Hall meeting. Members, we do not consider this to constitute consultation.
We also understand not all staff were invited to attend, which has caused concern among members about their exclusion. Members are encouraged to lodge any concerns with their manager and via Safety Suite.
Once the documentation and change management plan are provided, we will seek your feedback.
In the meantime, we encourage members to begin considering their feedback, including what could improve the system and the Department, strengthen child protection, increase system accountability, and manage the workload expected under CPP.
