Sydney Opera House: members meeting notice October 2025

Join your É«ÀÇÉçÇøorganiser and senior industrial officer, for a members meeting to discuss how your union can best support your workplace.
This is an opportunity for members and non-members to meet with É«ÀÇÉçÇøstaff to discuss a proposed variation to the Crown Employees (Sydney Opera House) Award 2024 (SOH Award).
In February, SOH and É«ÀÇÉçÇørestarted discussions on this proposal which included organising a meeting with members onsite to obtain their endorsement of the in-principle agreement reached to incorporate the SOH Award as a subordinate instrument to the Crown Employees (Public Sector – Salaries 2024) Award (Salaries Award). As this was the shared intention of the parties when settling the original 2023 dispute it was made known to employees prior to their transfer to the new instrument and is a relatively minor and uncontroversial matter.Ìý It is now six-months since the restart to discussions and the parties are happy to move this matter forward to obtain member endorsement and have the variation lodged with the NSW Industrial Relations Commission to finalise the matter.
Next steps with the proposed agreed changes are to:
- file a consent variation to the current two-year SOH Award to extend its nominal expiry from 23 August 2026 to 30 June 2027, in order to align with the nominal expiry of the Crown Salaries Award; and
- incorporate into the SOH Award the amended No Extra Claims clause as agreed by the parties
Once this variation to the SOH Award is finalised, approval has been given for the Industrial Relations Secretary to file an application with the IRC to vary the Salaries Award (likely timed with a bulk variation) to include the varied SOH Award as a subordinate instrument and incorporate the updated three-year SOH Award salary table into the Salaries Award.
