Submission: Assaults on staff – Sentencing Council Review

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis putting in a submission in regards to the review of sentencing for offences involving assaults on Youth Justice staff.
We are requesting that if any officer has been assaulted and charged the detainee externally with assault, could you send the following information to Gino DiCandilo É«ÀÇÉçÇøIndustrial Officer.
- Name
- Work Location
- Details of incident – i.e. injuries, did you take workers’ compensation
- Court result – if known
- If not charged why not.
It is imperative we get as much information from you for as this will assist our submission in highlighting the need for greater consistency in sentencing which reinforces that assaults to staff is not acceptable.
The submission needs to be in by Wednesday, 30 September 2020 so if you can send your information before Tuesday, 15 September 2020 it would be greatly appreciated.
