School Administrative and Support Staff Reference Groups
Update for É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill shortly invite members to express interest in being the É«ÀÇÉçÇørepresentatives on the 2016 – 2017 SASS Reference Group Committees (SRGs).
Each SRG has a É«ÀÇÉçÇørepresentative, whose role is to advise and work collaboratively with the Committee on developing and delivering training for all classifications of School Administrative and Support Staff.
Another key function of the É«ÀÇÉçÇøSRG representative is to provide regular updates to É«ÀÇÉçÇøstaff and Departmental Committee delegates.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas a long and proud history with SRGs. It was instrumental in their establishment which resulted from the PSA’s successful lobbying for ongoing funds to be dedicated to SAS staff professional learning.
The SRGs are a joint initiative between the É«ÀÇÉçÇøand the Department and are designed to optimise the use of these funds.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis currently meeting with the Department about the SRG guidelines. When this process is completed, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill issue a notice containing the expression of interest for the position of É«ÀÇÉçÇørepresentative.
At a recent meeting with the Department, it was confirmed that $17 million of the additional Gonski funds as announced by the Minister for Education on
21 October will be distributed across NSW public schools for training and development of ALL staff working in schools.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis meeting again with the Department on Tuesday 24 November and will report back to members.
