SafeWork NSW: no new travel policy provided to the É«ÀÇÉçÇøahead of 1 July implementation date

SafeWork NSW: no new travel policy provided to the É«ÀÇÉçÇøahead of 1 July implementation date

  23 June 2026

As members are aware, the É«ÀÇÉçÇørecently surveyed staff regarding Ìý to settle the P‑Card dispute. Members voted to accept the offer, and the É«ÀÇÉçÇøformally notified SafeWork NSW of this outcome.

A key component of the agreement was that, from 1 July 2026, SafeWork NSW would implement a new travel policy providing for the payment of allowances under Clause 26 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award, less the value of meal or incidental expenses incurred on the P‑Card.

At the time of writing, despite numerous representations, a draft policy has not been provided to the É«ÀÇÉçÇøfor consultation. With only a week until the agreed implementation date, there is now insufficient time for meaningful consultation to occur.

É«ÀÇÉçÇøadvice to É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers

ÌýThe É«ÀÇÉçÇøis disappointed that SafeWork NSW has not yet provided the union with a new travel policy that gives effect to the agreement accepted by members, namely, the payment of allowances under Clause 26 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award, less the value of meal or incidental expenses incurred on the P‑Card, effective from 1 July 2026. As no draft policy has been provided for consultation, and with the implementation date only a week away, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøadvises members that they are under no compulsion to use a P‑Card. Until an agreed travel policy is in place, members should, where appropriate, claim their entitlements in accordance with ÌýÌýof the Award.
