Rescission of KDWJ Award: Members overwhelmingly vote YES!

The results of the members vote on whether to consent to the rescission of the KDWJ Award are in. ɫÀÇÉçÇømembers have made their voice clear, with 98 per cent voting in favour.
What does this mean?
The yes vote means that the É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill give their consent to rescind the Crown Employee (Correctional Officers, Department of Communities and Justice) Award for Kempsey, Dillwynia, Wellington and John Morony (KDWJ Award) and to transition affected staff to the following Awards relevant to their classification:
- Crown Employees (Correctional Officers, Department of Communities and Justice – Corrective Services NSW) Award
- Crown Employees (Senior Assistant Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, Department of Communities and Justice – Corrective Services NSW) Award
- Crown Employees (Custodial Executive Ranked Officers, Department of Communities and Justice – Corrective Services NSW) Award
What happens now?
Nothing will change immediately. Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW), with the consent of the PSA, will begin the process in the Industrial Relations Commission of making an application to rescind the Award. Further information regarding timelines will be distributed, and you will be notified in advance of any changes being implemented.

The rescission of the KDWJ Award is an issue that has been consistently raised by É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers and your Delegates. The determined advocacy of your Delegates in this matter was heard by CSNSW, and in consultation with the PSA, they undertook the extensive work of getting the proposed changes to abide by the restrictive NSW Government Wages Policy.
