Public Works member update – Restructure – 24 March 2016 (PDF version)
On Monday, 21 March 2016 the É«ÀÇÉçÇømet with NSW Public Works (PW) management and other unions to discuss outstanding issues with regard to the ‘restructure’ of the Government Architect’s Office (GAO) and Sydney Region Project Management (SRPM), as well as the creation of the new entity, Public Works Advisory (PWA).
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøexpressed the view staff within GAO and SRPM, who were interested in applying for roles within the PWA would be severely disadvantaged by the uncertainty of not knowing when these roles are to become available. In particular, we were concerned our members may be declared excess beforehand.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøsuccessfully sought a commitment from PW it would retain all staff who lodge an application for the combined Stage 1 and Stage 2 until those employees know the outcome of their applications.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇørecognises there are many people in GAO and SRPM who do want to maximise their opportunities for remaining in employment within Public Works. We think we have had a significant win for the union with respect to this commitment.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøalso discussed and submitted the various questions and feedback comments we had received from our members regarding the structure and role descriptions for the PWA.
We will follow this up in the days to come.
