色狼社区update: Transport for NSW job cuts dispute and letter to your MP

As reported earlier this week, the relevant unions have a dispute with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) regarding consultation on its proposal to cut up to 950 positions.
As a result of discussions this week, TfNSW has proposed some amendments to the consultation schedule, which extends the timeframes for some consultation processes. It seeks to minimise concurrent consultation timeframes, to ensure members have their Award-protected right to be given reasonable time to provide input and discuss the proposed changes with your union.
While these changes are being considered by the unions, the dispute has not yet been resolved. There are also several other matters the unions are seeking consultation on, including, but not limited to:
- Detail on the number of Labour Hire employee, including where they are being utilised, and why there are still more than 700 Labour Hire resources being used whilst TfNSW plans to cut 950 jobs.
- Detail on natural attrition rates and current advertising of roles. If TfNSW was prepared to cut 200 TSSEs via natural attrition over two years, why don鈥檛 it apply the same approach to less generously remunerated workers?
- Detail on when the 鈥減lanned鈥 cutting of 100 more Transport Senior Service Executives will occur, and why they are being kept on the books whilst cutting less generously remunerated workers in order to make savings.
- More information on the 鈥渟avings鈥 required and whether recently discovered fraud contributed to the stated 鈥渇unding shortfall鈥. What other options have been considered as an alternative to cutting jobs?

While the dispute remains open, as these issues have not been resolved, continued discussions will occur next week.
