É«ÀÇÉçÇøupdate: New recruitment procedures, LTT conversion and severance pay – how we can help you
11 November 2021
Please pass on to all SASS staff, including all SLSOs.Â
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas been successful in supporting many Long Term Temporary employees who expressed interest in converting to permanent employment during term 4 last year.
This year’s new process is quite different to previous years. This was put in place when the Department of Education implemented new SASS Recruitment Procedures.
The new recruitment procedure allows eligible staff to be able to be converted to full or part permanency if your Principal supports you and you meet certain criteria. If you have been employed continuously for 12 months or more, you may be eligible for conversion. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis here to support members through the process.
How to express interest in conversion
The first step is to the PSA. The union can provide you confidential advice so that you can understand how the process works and, if you meet the criteria, we can assist you to request conversion.
We have developed an easy-to-use É«ÀÇÉçÇøConversion Guide and Checklist for members seeking permanency.
We have also developed a simple template letter that you can provide to your Principal that supports your EOI.
Only members can access the guide and template letter.
Anyone who wishes to submit an EOI to be converted to permanency will need to join the É«ÀÇÉçÇøto access these resources and advice.
the É«ÀÇÉçÇøtoday and find out more about the process of expressing interest in permanency.
Once you have joined, contact the É«ÀÇÉçÇøvia our Member Support Centre on 1800 772 679 or by emailing the Schools Team at for your copy of the resources.
Did you know the É«ÀÇÉçÇøcan support you if your contract isn’t renewed?
