Following media and delegate concerns about police firearms in court, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøconsulted members about their views. Feedback about the issue was mixed with some supporting the Police Association position and some not.
On 12 May the É«ÀÇÉçÇøGeneral Secretary Anne Gardiner and Manager Industrial James Shaw met with Scott Weber, the President of the NSW Police Association to discuss the matter.
Mr Weber agreed with the É«ÀÇÉçÇøposition that issues relating to Court security are, in part, due to a lack of resources he said that he supported the É«ÀÇÉçÇøand É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers in our efforts to increase resources in the Courts. Further, he assured the É«ÀÇÉçÇøhe Police Association was not attempting to have their members perform any of the work being undertaken by Sheriff’s Officers.
