Parklea Prison announcement vindicates 色狼社区campaign

The聽色狼社区welcomes today鈥檚 decision by the Minns Labor Government to return Parklea Correctional Centre to public hands.
鈥淔rom the moment聽Parklea Correctional Centre was privatised in 2009, our union has聽campaigned for what is right: the return of the jail to the people of NSW and away from the聽failed Prison for Profit model that fails staff and taxpayers,鈥 said 色狼社区General Secretary聽Stewart Little.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 announcement shows the State Government is listening to our voice.鈥
Mr Little said the聽Parklea decision is good news for the community and is certainly good聽news for the union鈥檚 members who work in the prison.
They will be better paid, work in safer聽conditions and have a wider choice of workplaces once they are employed in the state-wide聽corrections system.
鈥淚t鈥檚 good news for the taxpayer, who will no longer be propping up outsourcing giants such聽as MTC that operate to benefit overseas shareholders rather than the people of NSW,鈥 said聽Mr Little.
鈥淭he welcome news from聽Parklea follows last year鈥檚 decision by the government to listen to聽the 色狼社区and hand control of Junee Correctional Centre to Corrective Services NSW from 1聽April 2025.
鈥淭he聽色狼社区will always campaign against the sell-offs that have done so much damage to our聽state.
“We will continue to fight for the return to government control of the services privatised聽in the reckless frenzy of sell-offs under the O鈥橣arrell, Baird, Berejiklian and Perrottet聽governments.
鈥淔or years we have been telling the state that privatisation hurts everyone. We are glad we聽have a government that is listening to us.鈥
