A former national parks ranger who lost his job in a restructure has challenged Gladys Berejiklian to deny her government has cut 100 rangers since coming to office in 2011 鈥 making hazard-reduction burns less frequent.
Both the NSW Premier and Deputy Premier John Barilaro took to radio on Wednesday to deny there were fewer field staff doing hazard-reduction burns after the Public Service Association told The Australian ranger numbers had been cut by a third.
鈥淪ince 2017, we鈥檝e increased by 144 the number of staff in National Parks and Wildlife,鈥 Ms Berejik颅lian told the ABC. 鈥淲hat you鈥檙e hearing is not necessarily facts and I鈥檓 talking about the facts.
