As members will be aware, Mick Fuller took over as Police Commissioner at the end of March 2017.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwrote to congratulate Commissioner Fuller on his appointment and looks forward to having a productive relationship with him on behalf of all our members in the NSW Police Force.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøanticipates that the recently announced Re-Engineering Project may result in changes that will affect our members.

Phase One of this process began on 1 May 2017 with the new Executive Structure being created and aligned in SAP.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøsought consultation with NSW Police about the Re-Engineering process and is a part of the Taskforce chaired by Assistant Commissioner Clifford.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill be working hard to protect our members’ interests on the Re-Engineering Taskforce and will ensure ongoing communication with members about the consultation process.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøalso advises the following:

  • The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas written to Commissioner Fuller seeking an introductory meeting on a range of issues, including consultation around the Re-Engineering process
  • In recent Disputes lodged in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC), the Commission confirmed the obligation of NSW Police to consult with the É«ÀÇÉçÇøin a timely manner about issues affecting our members
  • The IRC also supported É«ÀÇÉçÇøsubmissions that in the interests of parity for our members, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøis entitled to be provided with information at the same time as the Police Association
  • The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwas advised in the Industrial Relations Commission on 24 April 2017 that a moratorium on restructures and regradings affecting our members in Police had been extended to 31 October 2017
  • The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis aware of discussions around Re-Engineering of LACs in regional areas. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas not yet been provided with any specific information by NSW Police but will be discussing this issue as part of the consultation process. We will continue to provide updates as information comes to hand.
