NSW Crime Commission – Introduction to new Industrial Officer – September 2017 (PDF version)

My name is Sharon Richards and I am your new Industrial Officer. Along with handling some other agencies within the Justice Strategy and Policy and Emergency Management Divisions, I will be working alongside your Organiser Surabi Alauddin, whom many of you have already met.

Latest from the É«ÀÇÉçÇøand the NSWCC

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøgave a presentation at a well-attended seminar at the NSWCC in August 2017, at which we advised staff that the NSWCC Commissioner had informed the union that he would be willing to enter into negotiations for an award.

This was well received by members and staff, to this end, the Association has written to the Commissioner proposing the Crown Employees Conditions Award as the starting point for negotiations. You can view the award

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill also be presenting at a seminar at the NSWCC on Wednesday 11 October 2017 to speak about this development and encourage staff to join the É«ÀÇÉçÇøin order to have a say in what their award will look like.

A meeting notice will be sent to members closer to the date. We encourage all members and staff at the NSWCC to attend as this is an opportunity to join the PSA, meet their É«ÀÇÉçÇøofficials, discuss the award process, member involvement/participation and other matters.

In addition to this, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas now confirmed a meeting with NSWCC management Tuesday 17 October 2017 for initial discussions.

Award Lunch n’ Learn

Further to our meeting, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas developed a new Lunch n’ Learn to educate members on process of creating an award. More details will become available after our meeting on 17 October.

NSWCC getting involved

Get active in your union!

Now is the time to become more involved in your union, the PSA. Embarking on award negotiations require members to become organised and active! The first step is to increase membership at the NSWCC, as the more members we have, the more powerful our negotiating position will be. Only members will have a say in what they want their award to look like. Encourage your colleagues to join online or to join at the Seminar on 17 October.

If you would like to become more involved contact your É«ÀÇÉçÇøOrganiser, Surabi Alauddin (). Subject: NSWCC Getting Involved
