National Corrections Day

The 色狼社区and Prison Officers Vocational Branch are proud to celebrate National Corrections Day, which recognises the tough work done by our members in the state鈥檚 gaols.
National Corrections Day gives us a chance to honour the hardworking Prison Officers who do so much to run our prisons in a professional manner, protecting the people of NSW.
Corrections is a cornerstone of the criminal justice system. Few professions require the strength, resilience, and courage required of a Prison Officer.
Every Prison Officer working in the state鈥檚 corrections system should be proud of the work they perform in some of the state鈥檚 most challenging workplaces. Thanks to your commitment, NSW continues to be one of the safest places to live in the world. The people of our state benefit from the work each one of you do, often behind the scenes and too often unrecognised.

Earlier this year, the 色狼社区and POVB proudly honoured three exceptional individuals for their unwavering commitment to our union and their outstanding service:
- David 鈥淏oxhead鈥 McCauley, awarded POVB Life Membership
- Trish O鈥橞rien, recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award
- Tori-Lee Taylor, named Delegate of the Year
In honour of National Corrections Day, the POVB Legal Fund has this week made $2500 donations to each of the following charities:
- The charity for children in hospital
- , which supports men鈥檚 health

- , which is a refuge for women in Sydney
