As you may be aware, Department of Premier and Cabinet has advised the É«ÀÇÉçÇøthat they seek to enter into negotiations regarding the DPC Flexible Working Hours Agreement (FWHA).
As the employee representative, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøis putting together a DPC Flexible Working Hours Agreement Negotiation Committee to represent areas affected. We will be negotiating this new agreement on your behalf. As a É«ÀÇÉçÇømember, you have a voice in these negotiations.
We are asking for your expression of interest – join the É«ÀÇÉçÇøFlex Working Hours Negotiation Committee. If you are interested, email and with your name, team, and agency.
We will ensure there is representation adequately covering all affected areas, and will be communicating and consulting with you throughout this process.
In an attempt to divide and conquer, DPC Management has requested non-union employee representatives also be involved in negotiations. The Flexible Working Hours Agreement is a local arrangement negotiated by the Department Head and the Public Service Association as per Clause 10 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.
The attempt to introduce a party that has no standing in negotiations (non-union employee representatives) comes straight from the WorkChoices playbook on weakening employees bargaining power.
However, non-members have the ability to join the union and then take part in the É«ÀÇÉçÇøFlex Working Hours Negotiation Committee. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøfully encourages non-members to join the collective.
As always, É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers will have an active voice in the negotiation with regular members’ meetings. Prior to an agreement being finalised it will go to a vote of É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers.
