Interested in getting more involved with the PSA? Nominate to become a Delegate!
18 November 2021
- Would you like to become more involved in your union?
- Are you interested in working with É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers in your school and with others in your school network to resolve issues and help to grow the union?
You should consider becoming a É«ÀÇÉçÇødelegate
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas recently called for nominations for the Housing Departmental Committee (DC). The DC is a group of É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers from Housing workplaces who work together to involve more people in the union and help to resolve issues with the support of our Organisers and Industrial Officers.
Once you are a member of the DC, you become a Delegate and are protected under legislation and your award.
Look for the email with the subject line CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – HOUSING NSW DEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE or use to nominate. Nominees, nominators and seconders must be financial members of the Association as at 20 October 2021.
Be part of the union team
You are not alone as a Delegate. É«ÀÇÉçÇøOrganisers are there to support you to arrange meetings with members, recruit new members and provide the resources and material that will enable the building of union strength in the workplace.
Your Industrial Officers are there to provide you with expert advice and support if an issue arises.
Usually there are four DC meetings each year and you are released from duty on Special Leave to attend. The meetings are for one day and the É«ÀÇÉçÇøpays for reasonable travel costs, such as flights for regional delegates, for you to attend.
You get access to free É«ÀÇÉçÇøtraining
Delegates and members can complete a range of trade union training provided by the PSA. These courses include ‘The Role of the Delegate’, ‘Improving Negotiation Skills’ and ‘Dealing with Bullying in the Workplace’. All É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers have access to 12 days’ paid leave each two-year period to attend É«ÀÇÉçÇøtraining courses.
Once elected, we will be providing all DC members with training in the role and rights of delegates and how your union will support you.
The full list of training courses available is on the É«ÀÇÉçÇøwebsite HERE.
NOMINATE TODAY!
If you want to have a say in how your union is run and want to be part of a collective effort to improve your rights at work by building strength on the ground, we encourage you to nominate and get involved in your union, the PSA.
