INDEPENDENT REVIEW OFFICE HSRs
6 September 2021
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøthanks members for their advocacy in this space and welcomes the decision of the Independent Review Office (IRO) to establish a Health and Safety Committee.
Special congratulations to É«ÀÇÉçÇøMembers Oni Roy and Jordanna D’Cruz who were elected as HSRs of their prospective working groups.
É«ÀÇÉçÇøwould like to remind members that a Health and Safety Committee should include at least 50% workers who were not nominated by management and under the WHS Act 2011, a worker may ask the business to facilitate the election of a HSR to represent the employees in their work group. Staff must be able to elect their Health and Safety Representative if requested.
Many members find an understanding of WHS matters empowering and this gives them the confidence to raise their concerns. We have a number of Podcasts on this topic, including Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work, please visit the É«ÀÇÉçÇøFacebook page to listen.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøalso regularly holds Health and Safety training for members, including Webinars. Training courses are available at no charge to members. All members are invited and welcome, you do not have to be a delegate to attend training.
