Understaffing at the NSW gun registry rocketed to a six-year high 12 months after a horrific murder-suicide shocked the nation and prompted the registry to overhaul its systems.
The 30 per cent vacancy rate put the community at 鈥渟ignificant risk鈥, according to Public Service Association assistant secretary Troy Wright.
鈥淓ven more concerning has been to learn that some of these roles have been contracted out to agencies, rather than the government hiring permanent employees,鈥 he said.
