Email broadcast sent on 31 March 2015 – Attention SAS staff employed in High Schools
31 March 2015
Last week, the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) sent an email to SAS staff with instructions regarding the Unique Student Identifier (USI) implementation.
There has been no consultation with the É«ÀÇÉçÇøabout the USI implementation and so the Department is in breach of the award.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇødoes not believe duties relating to USI and AUSKey should be the responsibility of SAS Staff in schools.
The Department has imposed a deadline for the applications for AUSKey’s of close of business today.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇødoes not believe that this is a reasonable timeframe for these applications to be made by the schools.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas written to the Department requesting an immediate suspension of all activities relating to USI and AUSKey in schools.
The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas asked the Department to issue advice to affected schools to stop these activities immediately.
Furthermore the É«ÀÇÉçÇøSchools DC Executive has endorsed the following motion:
“The É«ÀÇÉçÇødirect members to immediately impose work bans on duties associated with Unique Student Identifier Implementation (USI) and AUSKey.”
Therefore, the É«ÀÇÉçÇødirects all members employed in High Schools to impose a work ban on all duties associated with USI and AUSKey in schools on the basis that the Department has failed to consult on these new procedures and responsibilities.
