CPSU NSW seeks amendments to draft UNSW Flexible Work Policy
16 March 2021
UNSW has provided a draft Flexible Work Policy (鈥渄raft Policy鈥) to the CPSU NSW for consultation. (see draft Policy .)
The CPSU NSW thanks members for their feedback on the draft Policy and understands that this issue is extremely important to you.
The CPSU NSW made submissions to UNSW on 10 March 2021 and encloses it鈥檚 submissions here for your information (see submissions )
The CPSU NSW raised it鈥檚 concerns that the draft Policy in it鈥檚 proposed form has a number of shortcomings and could lead to an erosion of flexible working conditions.
The CPSU sought a number of amendments to the draft Policy including the following –
- Clarification about the status of the Flexible Work Guidelines 2019-2022 (鈥榯he Guidelines鈥) (see Guidelines ) and it鈥檚 relationship to the draft Policy.
- A positive endorsement of Flexible Work.
- Acknowledgement of the benefits of Flexible Work including work/life balance, staff wellbeing, staff diversity and compliance with antidiscrimination legislation, service delivery advantages and attraction and retention of talented staff.
- The inclusion of flexitime in the draft Policy noting that the failure to include flexitime in the document is a serious omission.
- The inclusion of a Dispute Resolution mechanism in relation to Flexible Work Disputes.
The CPSU NSW will continue to engage with UNSW and will fight to protect your rights in relation to this important issue.
