Combined IEU and Federation Strike: how É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers can support the action teachers are taking

  23 June 2022

The Independent Education Union and the NSW Teachers Federation have called for a 24 hour strike of their members on Thursday 30 June 2022.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøsupports the issues raised in this action; however, this strike is mainly focused on teacher supply. We are working with the Teachers Federation and many other public sector unions around our shared concerns including workloads, pay and administrative support in schools.

There will be more campaign actions in the future and the É«ÀÇÉçÇøwill be front and centre with our other public sector colleagues.

How you can support this action – wear your É«ÀÇÉçÇøt-shirts and badges

To support the teacher’s strike next week, we encourage all our members to wear their Public Sector Needs a Pay Rise Campaign t-shirt or badge and take a photo on the day.

Send your photos to and

Do not take on the tasks of striking workers!

The strike may cause some issues with supervision of children or requests to carry the workload of teachers, including school counsellors, in some schools.

All É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers are reminded that they should work to their statement of duties or role description and should not take on the work or duties of colleagues who are striking.

Supervision of students, and other issues arising from the strike action, are the responsibility of the Department to manage.

In Solidarity!
