As your Enterprise Agreement is set to expire on 30ÌýJune 2026, the bargaining process at Macquarie University will soon begin. It’s crucial that we understand your priorities to effectively represent you during negotiations.

Help shape our Enterprise Agreement

To aid in crafting the CPSU NSW log of claims, we invite all members to complete this survey. Please click on the link to share your insights.

This survey is your opportunity to tell us:

  • What is working well in the current Enterprise Agreement and should be protected.
  • Where the Agreement is not working as intended.
  • What you believe should be our top priorities in the next round of bargaining.

Your responses will directly inform our bargaining claims and strategy. The survey should take around 5–10 minutes to complete.

Your CPSU NSW workplace delegates are here to assist with any workplace questions, provide advice and support, and advocate for your interests.

On 18 March 2026, your Sheriff’s Office Vocational Branch Advisory Group (SOVBAG) Delegates came together at É«ÀÇÉçÇøHouse to develop an industrial strategy for the coming year and to prepare for the upcoming Sheriff’s Office Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) Meeting..

Ahead of discussions on key workplace matters, delegates conducted an election to fill the SOVBAG executive positions.

The election process was overseen by É«ÀÇÉçÇøSenior Organiser, Glenn Duncan, ensuring it was conducted fairly and in line with established procedures.

Introducing your new SOVBAG executive

We are pleased to announce the successful candidates elected to the following roles:

  • Chair: Roxanne Lloyd
  • Vice Chair: Brian Jackson
  • Secretary: Glenn Elliott-Rudder
  • Assistant Secretary: Jennifer Horvath
  • Women’s Officer: Katherine Gehan
  • Disability Officer: Trudy Peeni

Congratulations to all newly elected executives and thank you to the delegates for their active participation. Your new executive team looks forward to representing members’ interests and progressing key issues.

Induction visit

On 7 April, our new seconded Organiser, Michael Petersen, was invited to meet with the latest graduating class of Sheriff’s Officers about the benefits and protections that come with union membership. Highlighting the strength that comes from standing together, the session resulted in 22 new members joining. Congratulations to all involved!

This growth strengthens our ability to continue advocating for a stronger, safer, and better workplace for everyone.

Secondment

Michael Petersen, a Delegate from Police Radio, has been seconded for the Sheriff’s Office and Police Radio.

Site visits

Marko Petrovic and Michael Petersen also took the opportunity to conduct drop-in visits at the Parramatta courthouses. These visits gave Michael a valuable first-hand look at the important work you do each day.

Forfeited flex hours dispute

At the JCC meeting on 19 March 2026, the Association made a formal specific requestÌýto the NSW Sheriff’s Office to provide the data related to forfeited flex hours and letÌýthe Minutes show that the request was declined.

In the same meeting, the Association also requested the following:

  1. That Sheriff’s management agree to pursue a determination covering forfeited flex and the provisions that would apply.
  2. That Management consider another type of industrial instrument such as an agreement or Award.
  3. That a working group be established to negotiate an agreed outcome.

These requests were also declined.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas written to the Sheriff’s Office formally notifying that we are in dispute regarding the failure to engage in meaningful consultation and share information around these issues.

If the dispute is unresolved the Association will seek the assistance of the Industrial Relations Commission to resolve the matter.

We will keep you updated.

The Public Service Association (PSA) met with the Water Group management on Monday 13 April. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøsought clarification on a range of issues raised by its members from the criteria used to determine whether someone was matched, ringfenced or marked for the Workplace Mobility Process. The union asked whether AI was used in the process, about the possibility of staff volunteering for the Mobility Process and requested new role descriptions and more.

With a full agenda, not all items were able to be addressed, so the É«ÀÇÉçÇøhas followed up in writing. Water Group management is yet to respond to those outstanding items.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis calling a follow-up meeting to discuss the outcomes of that meeting and provide an update on responses so far. Members are encouraged to share this meeting notice and invite your colleagues along.

The Public Service Association (PSA) and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) returned to the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) Wednesday 1 April 2026. The É«ÀÇÉçÇøwas seeking further review of the remaining 51 vacant roles and the remaining 28 impacted staff. With only three members identified by the PSA’s callout, there was little substantive merit to pursue the matter further. The matter has now concluded in the IRC.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis monitoring workloads as the new structure is implemented. Moving forward, if members have any further concerns please do not hesitate to contact the PSA.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøis calling a members’ meeting to discuss the outcome of the IRC and report back from the Joint Consultative Committee meeting.

Your feedback achieved real change

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøthanks our members for your engagement throughout this change process. While the É«ÀÇÉçÇøcannot stop restructures from happening, due to your feedback, the É«ÀÇÉçÇøwas able to negotiate meaningful changes to the Change Management Plan, including facilitating interested staff to volunteer to enter the Workplace Mobility Process and allow directly impacted staff to be matched or apply for roles through the Expressions of Interest process. This was commented on by the Commissioner on 1 April, acknowledging the É«ÀÇÉçÇømembers’ engagement with the process and ability to achieve concessions from the EPA.

The É«ÀÇÉçÇøheld nine members’ meetings with consistently more than 200 members in attendance. Your union appeared before the IRC five times.

More than 100 EPA staff and supporters held a rally in Parramatta Square and at other locations across the state, covered by three media outlets.

These actions saved the Environment Line and had the comparative assessment process opened up to all grades to give members promotional opportunities.
