The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) have advised that they have made an error in relation to the CPSU SPSF NSW branch election material.

The AEC has decided to send new ballot papers to members.

Those who have already voted will need to vote again when they receive their new ballot papers later this week.

You can read the notice from the Returning Officer HERE.

The closing date will now be extended to 6 July 2016.

This email has not been sent to POA (Professional Officers Association) members as their original ballot is still valid and their closing date remains 22 June.

For all other members, please note, if you have voted, YOU WILL NEED TO VOTE AGAIN once you receive the new ballot papers and associated material.

The running of the SPSF (CPSU) election is the responsibility of the Australian Electoral Commission and as such the union does not incur any costs in relation to it.

These two separate elections occur every four years and the outcome determines the leadership of the union:

• the State Public Services Federation (SPSF) branch of the CPSU which is occurring now

• the 色狼社区election which will be held later this year

Ballot papers for the State Public Services Federation (SPSF) branch of the CPSU election will be sent to members this week from the AEC to their home address. All members of the 色狼社区are automatically a member of the SPSF branch of the CPSU and therefore entitled to vote. The 色狼社区election will be held later this year.

This joint membership and structure is becoming increasingly important, as it allows the 色狼社区to cover members if they are moved from State coverage to Federal Fair Work coverage. This happened to members in TAFE who, with the stroke of a pen, were moved from being employees covered by the NSW Industrial Relations Commission to only being covered by the Federal Fair Work system.

When you receive ballot papers this week you will also receive candidate information. In the SPSF(CPSU) election all positions are being contested except for the Branch Secretary position where there was only one nominee and that nominee will be elected unopposed.

I am pleased to announce an historic first, with 色狼社区management having reached agreement on a single enterprise agreement for all 色狼社区staff.

Under the Fair Work Act 2009, all private sector employees, including 色狼社区staff, were moved from the state industrial relations system to the federal system.

Since that time, industrial staff in the 色狼社区have not had a legally enforceable agreement covering their wages and conditions.

In order to ensure that all 色狼社区staff had equal industrial protections, I commenced negotiations with the three internal 色狼社区unions to work on a single agreement.

Given the ambitious nature of this undertaking, it was not surprising that some difficulties were encountered in bringing all parties to agreement.

However, good will from both 色狼社区staff and management resulted in 95% of staff voting for the agreement.

Yesterday, the parties were advised by Fair Work that the 色狼社区Staff Enterprise Agreement 2016 had been approved and will take effect from 24 May 聽2016.

I am deeply saddened to advise that long term 色狼社区member and great defender of public services, Greens MP, John Kaye died last night.

John was a remarkable man with an enormous work ethic who I am very proud to call a friend.

My warmest sympathies to his wife Lynne and their family.

This is an invitation to members who wish to learn more about the 色狼社区and the important role workplace contacts provide. We are proud to offer a one-day training course on the 鈥淩ole of the Delegate鈥� at Wagga Wagga on 10 May 2016.

Course outline:

This course discusses the role of active members: organising skills, recruitment, working with issues, union values and involvement.

You do not need to be a delegate to participate. Any member can learn from this course and everyone is welcome to apply.

Nominations for this course are now open and all interested members are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
